Air Exchanger Cleaning (HRV / ERV)
Your air exchanger is the lungs of your modern home. When poorly maintained, it does the opposite of its job — it recycles dirt instead of bringing in fresh air.

What an Air Exchanger Does
An HRV (Heat Recovery Ventilator) or ERV (Energy Recovery Ventilator) removes stale air from the home — kitchen, bathroom, humidity — and replaces it with fresh, pre-tempered outdoor air. It's what makes a well-sealed home breathable.
When filters are clogged or the core is dirty, the exchanger runs idle: it consumes electricity without refreshing the air. Worse, mould can develop in the condensation pan.
Signs You Need Cleaning
- Windows fogging or frosting in winter (humidity not evacuated)
- Persistent odours in the home
- Poor air quality despite the system running
- Noise or vibrations that weren't there before
- Visibly dirty filters
- No maintenance in over a year

Frequently Asked Questions
The procedure is similar. The only difference is the core type (heat-only vs. heat + humidity). We work on both.
Once a year. Filters should be checked every 3 months and washed or replaced as needed.
The filters, yes. But the core, motors and drain require disassembly, specialized products and airflow checks that can't be improvised.
